Gabriele Milani

Professor, Engineer

Biography: Gabriele Milani earned Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Ferrara in 2005 and is currently an associate professor of strength of materials in the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering at the Technical University of Milan, with habilitation as full professor in science and construction technics. He is the second author in Scopus under the keyword "masonry" and has been awarded a Telford Premium by Institution of Civil Engineering in 2012, and for being the most cited author from 2005 to 2008 in Computers & Structures received the Bathe award in 2014. Dr Milani is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Masonry Research and Innovation and Open Civil Engineering Journal and is on the editorial board of several international journals, including Computers and Structures and Structural Engineering and Mechanics. He was invited as a keynote speaker at the Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions congress in 2018 in Cuzco and has edited a book and authored more than 140 peer reviewed technical publications.

Research Interests: Dr. Milani’s research interests include the theoretical and computational mechanics applied to the design of structures exposed to dynamic loadings and earthquakes and nonlinear material response.
