The demographic aspects of cities include population and housing growths; diversities of their districts expressed through the population ethnicity, migration, and languages and their proficiencies; cities youths expressed in terms of population age and household size; and educational levels of different city districts. The socio-economic trends include historic employment and unemployment trends; household income; and educational, health, sanitation, crime levels, labor force, and income characteristics of populations of various city districts. This session will explore these trends and how they correlate with the natural and anthropogenic hazards of the cities, and define suitable indicators for the eventual use in resilience and sustainability planning.
